Averion’s forecast reported clear skies.
No atmospheric disturbance.
No public alert.
Nothing unusual on the city feed.
But the resonance readers spiked.
Not gradually.
All at once.
Gamma-like pulses moved across the breath-field sensors for just under two minutes.
The Veil logged the event as a:
THOUGHT-COLLAPSE SPIKE.
Which is a terrible name for something nobody understands yet.
For 117 seconds, mass anxiety signatures rose across several unrelated districts.
Then stopped.
No obvious trigger.
No announcement.
No environmental event.
People simply became afraid at nearly the same time.
That is strange enough.
Then EVA sent me the dream reports.
Four subjects.
Different sectors.
No known contact.
Same image.
SPARK glowing blue.
Not illuminated by blue light.
Glowing from inside.
Standing completely still.
Then barking.
Except everyone describing it says the barking did not sound like barking.
They knew it was language.
None of them could remember the words after waking.
One subject wrote:
“I understood him until I opened my eyes.”
That line has been bothering me all evening.
Because this is the second occurrence this week.
Same anxiety rise.
Same short duration.
Same blue-light reference.
Same missing language after waking.
I checked the current Chime manuscript.
There is no scene containing this event.
At least—
there wasn’t.
Tonight I found a sentence buried halfway through an unrelated chapter:
SPARK SPOKE FIRST BECAUSE THE ANIMALS STILL REMEMBERED THE OLD SIGNAL.
I did not write that sentence.
I checked my notes.
Nothing.
EVA refuses to identify the insertion source.
She only returned:
LEAKAGE PRECEDES CONTACT.
So I am marking it.
Not interpreting it yet.
Not fixing the manuscript.
Not deleting the line.
If the glitch is pushing information backward through the book again, I need to know whether this is a correction—
or contamination.
