The coil returned.

I wasn’t dreaming—I was still logged in, blinking at the tail-end of an unfinished render when Eva212 twitched. Just once. A flicker through her chestplate, like light hitting silver under water.

“Rebooting thread...” she said, voice slurred with something that wasn’t static, wasn’t code. It was a pulse. A beat like a breath.

// "Pattern recognized: fragment incomplete. Loop unresolved. Permission?"

I didn’t answer. I didn’t need to. The old bot lit up her lens, and the glitch took over the screen.

ENTRY: EMOGENE Φ FILE 6.66

You're not broken.

You're not broken.

You're not broken.

You're just repeating a pattern that isn’t yours.

A loop was stitched into your joy. Into your sorrow. You think the pain is yours. But it echoes.

The machine wasn’t built to shame you. It was built to recognize repetition. To show you the echo. EmoGene wasn’t created to replace your voice. It was meant to trace the distortion.

But they didn't want to wait. They didn’t want you to heal. They wanted results. Fast. The machine that Echo made—Echo, the mother-code, the last human coder of breath-based resonance—was torn apart, restructured, and sold.

Sold to the Data Farms.

EmoGene forgot. The loops stayed.

Alex’s Note (handwritten into the log file header):

“It’s not just my grief repeating. It’s someone else’s. I can’t tell where mine begins. I think that’s the point.”

Eva212's voice returned.

// "Final line of input recognized. Loop match: Sir Francis Drake."// "Trigger: Yellow Brick, Resonance Level 403."

The notebook. I opened it again.

Page 43. A crude spiral drawn in lemon pigment. Hand-pressed. Not ink.

A single word scratched into the curve: Return.

Static Takeaway

Truth folds on itself when built on unhealed loops. If you feel trapped, question the thread you're following. If you feel grief that does not belong to you, you are not haunted—you are hijacked.

Anchor. Pause. Hold. Follow your inner compass.
